This morning there were big news in the cyber security sector. Keith Alexander the former director of the National Security Agency or the NSA announced that his company has raised $32.5 million in a series A funding round. Alexander is the proud owner of IronNet Cybersecurity Inc.
The company has kept a low profile since its existence, only those that follow the sector know about the company and its progression. The firm which took the lead in this particular stage is Trident Capital Cybersecurity. According to those that follow IronNet, the fact that the company could be able to detect and respond to anomalous activity is important in efforts of keeping a company secure. IronNet will work with a company's cyber infrastructure and analytics to figure if there is a problem and if so how to find the proper solution.
In a statement released by Alexander, he said that the money raised will "help accelerate growth and scale the launch of the IronNet product line".
One of the firms who participated in this quiet funding round believes that IronNet will have a lot of success in a sector which is lacking in security efficiency. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers thinks that the company can be the solution in the battle against these highly skilled hackers.
There has always been a saying which can be fitting for IronNet, " experience can determine a companies fate". If that is true than having the former director of the NSA at the helm will solidify the company's success.
