CEO of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), Jeff Bezos is now the richest man in the world with a fortune of over $90 billion. Shares price of Amazon has increased by more than $15 a share overnight which will add more than $800 million to Bezos’ fortune almost passing Gates. According to Forbes, this marks the first man to ever bump Gates from his lead in 7 years and is only the 6th man to hold the “richest person title” in the past 30 years.
Bezos has been a billionaire for almost 20 years and boosted his fortune once Amazon’s stock has soared. Despite being the richest man, he avoids talking publicly about his wealth. Bezos intends to change the world rather than be rich by choosing to start up Amazon instead of his initial idea of selling books on the internet previously. He actively focuses on running and building a booming business instead of being a popular figure by giving interviews or public addresses.
This man owns tons of real estate purchasing homes in Washington D.C., California, and New York making him one of the nation’s largest landowners with over 300,000 acres. Bezos also owns The Washington Post and founded a space travel company called Blue Origin.
