The Seattle based retail giant Amazon (NYSE:AMZN) had just announced a three million increase Amazon Prime subscribers in the third week of December alone.
"This was another great holiday season to be a Prime member," said Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in a statement.
Amazon has just report that it had an absolutely massive holiday season, the biggest ever in its 21-year history.
During Christmas, Amazon shipped products to 185 countries and broke its package record of over 200 million and continued its effort on local businesses with its same-day delivery that was still going strong on Christmas Eve. Amazon’s in-house device sales such as the Kindle were strong as well, doubling the number of sales from last year.
In addition to the two days free shipping, prime members also get access to online streaming videos and a variety of other benefits.
Amazon said a record high number of movies were watched on Prime Video in 2015, and that hours of programing watched during the holiday season doubled compared to last year.
Amazon raised the price of its Prime membership from $79 per year to $99 per year in March 2014; howeverdemand for the service keeps growing.
As of Monday morning, Amazon stock price went up 0.5% to $667 per share.
