According to CNBC, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) revealed their new security tool for Amazon Web Services that will alert customers on security threats such as sensitive data like passwords. The technology for this feature may have been from Amazon’s acquisition of Harvest.ai earlier this year, that had a tool called Macie. This will allow AWS to compete with Microsoft’s Azure database security feature.
Harvest.ai is a start-up that Amazon acquired earlier this year for about $19 million. Amazon Macie estimates the risk involved in your data that is stored on AWS to track unusual access partners that may indicate a security threat. Microsoft’s Azure Cloud enabled threat detection, a feature that finds attacks and other suspicious activity that sends alerts to administrators.
AWS utilizes artificial intelligence in Amazon Macie to automate the process of discovering sensitive data. AWS said, with "highly accurate, machine learning based detection of over 70 data types related to Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Personal Health Information (PHI), regulatory documents, API keys and secret key material."
