Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) has announced plans to partner with movie ticketing company, Fandango, to offer a discount to Apple Pay users. Users will receive a $5 discount after purchasing tickets on the Fandango app or website. Apple Pay has been recently offering other discounts as well including their recent promotion with Postmates Unlimited where users who sign up using Apple Pay can receive a free trial of the delivery subscription service.
Apple Pay users in the U.S. has increased to about 25% compared to 44% of nonusers but would sign up if given access to specific rewards. This wallet feature also offers merchant specific awards and loyalty offerings. Apple’s new pay system follows Samsung’s launch of their Pay app where user increase totaled to 49% in the first year after introducing the Samsung Rewards program.
Users can use Apple Pay either in stores or through the app. The functionality of both options can benefit consumers who may experience problems with checking out on mobile and slow connection speeds. The U.S. in store mobile payments market has definitely increased over the years and is a great growth driver for most companies.
