The governor of the state of California has signed into law, one of the most historic and unprecedented bills. The state of California has set a precedent in many cases, including the historic law that was passed, which allowed the LGBTQ community to lawfully and officially gain marital status. In light of such historic laws, California has recently passed the gun control and regulation law.
The state of California is now in a Democratic majority. The state claimed to have learned their lesson through gun violence not just in the state of California, but also the recent mass shootings in Orlando, Florida. California has limited the use and sale of assault weapons which are majorly composed of firearms. The state has also ensured to make better and more robust background checks on people who own and wish to own a firearm.
California state Governor, Jerry Brown claimed that the violence due to a lack of gun control was unacceptable, and that it had gone on for long enough. The laws had to make sense, and needed a drastic change. However, governor Jerry Brown was also careful in not upsetting his voter base. He also mentioned that he would keep the sacred and constitutional right of gun owners intact.
Many Republicans on the other end claim that even though the state allows citizens to own firearms, they have still undermined the true right of owning a firearm. The generic Republican narrative is pro-firearms in the United States, and apparently any and every form of gun regulation seems to be a defeat for the Republican Party.
