eBay, Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) Amazon and Walmart continue to compete against eBay. On Wednesday morning, eBay announced a new Price Match Guarantee for over 50,000 items across the site promising that they will have the best deal online, if not they will match the lowest price of a competitor. The reason being so that eBay does not lose any customers to Amazon, Walmart, and other competitors. However, only a few select items are available for this Price Match Guarantee.
Items must be new, which include unopened ones that are sold daily through eBay Deals. These deals include a selection of trending inventory across all categories such as fashion, consumer electronics, and home & garden that are updating at least once per day beginning at 8 AM. Deals are usually offered at a 20 percent to 90 percent off discount based from over 900 of eBay’s most trusted sellers. Sellers include smaller merchants looking to grow their consumer base as well as major consumer brands.
eBay claims that they will only match prices on identical items sold online on a competitor’s website that have to be currently in stock at the time you request the Price Match Guarantee. These competing online retailers include Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Sears, Target, and Best Buy. This move for eBay can help attract new shoppers since most believe that eBay is mainly an auction site.
