The famous Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has announced another business venture, which is once again futuristic. The new company called, Neuralink, and will focus on researching the possibilities of connecting our brains directly with computers.
Musk has hinted at the existence of Neuralink a few times over the last six months or so. More recently, Musk told a crowd in Dubai, “Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence.” He added that “it's mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain and the digital version of yourself, particularly output," The Verge reported.
Neuralink, now in early stages, and the research will focus primarily “neural lace” technology, which is explained as implanting tiny electrodes to treat brain disorders such as epilepsy and serious depression, according to the Wall Street Journal story. More rudimentary electrodes already are used to treat Parkinson’s disease. A more inclusive connection between us and computers could open many possibilities.
In the meantime, Elon Musk is busy in making sure the production of the Tesla Model 3 is on schedule, as the first cars are expected to be delivered next year.
