Apple’s aim is to throw a challenge to Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) in a domain that is being dominated for long years by this Internet search giant-smart phones attributes that will provide their users whatever they want even before they could ask.
Apple’s New Recruitment Policy
As a part of its new hiring policy, Apple is presently making attempts to hire a minimum of 86 more employees who have expertise in the field of artificial intelligence that is also known as machine learning. This revelation comes after an analysis that was done on the various job postings of Apple in the recent years. The company is leaving no stones unturned to hire the PhDs who have expertise in machine learning as it joins other giants like Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), Google and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) in a fierce cut-throat competition.
However, some experts have been quick to point out that the maker of iPhone has a very strict stand on privacy and that may affect its capability to compete with the other players in the field.
Machine Learning and Apple’s strategy
Machine Learning is a branch of studies that helps the devices to infer from past experiences what the user would like to have next and has to be dependent on massive data crunching for providing unprompted services like the score of your favorite team in a particular match or based on the prevalent traffic condition, when should one ideally leave a place for an appointment. Apple believes in analyzing the behavior of its users under certain self-imposed restrictions so that the data can be well-protected from outsiders.
That in turn, would mean that Apple will mostly be dependent on data analysis of the iPhone of each user rather than first sending it across to the cloud where it can be conveniently analyzed and compared with the help of information from several millions of users.
Joseph Gonzalez, who is the co-founder of a machine learning setup called “Dato" said that Apple aims to manufacture a special smart phone that will have all the necessary capabilities to quickly respond to your needs without the know-how leaking out to the rest of the world.
