Jack Dorsey apologizes for White Supremacist ad on Twitter

CEO of Twitter, Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) Jack Dorsey apologized on Thursday after the social media platform allowed an ad promoting a white supremacist group. “We made a mistake here and we apologize. The ad was titled “’New Article: The United States Was Founded as a White People’s Republic’ on NEW ORDER website” with a picture of eight white children in a field. The tweet came from an account with the handle “@NEW_ORDER_1488”.

Twitter had “purged” accounts related to the alt-right movement.The company announced on Tuesday that it would step up to deal with cyber bullying by upgrading its policies and reporting system on harassment and abusive behavior. Twitter’s advertising policy should be preventing advertisers from promoting sensitive topics in the hate speech or discrimination category.
