They are now tackling with the newly found curiosity of their core customer base about the foods they eat. It is being seen that consumers now actually want to eat healthier. As per a study conducted by Nielsen, about 77 percent of the respondents say that they prefer snacks which have 'natural' ingredients. About 45 percent have said that natural ingredients are vital in the food they will purchase.

Mondelez is counted as one of the biggest snack food companies in the world. The company rakes in about $25 billion as annual revenue. It is not possible for the company to be idle and observe its brands losing sheen due to its core consumers opting for healthy eating habits. The company is now taking a number of steps to solve this problem.
The Nielsen study also discovered that about 62 percent of the respondents polled all over the globe say that it is more desirable for the seemingly harmful ingredients to be absent compared to the inclusion of the 'beneficial' ones. People do not want ingredients like sugar and fat. For the Mondelez company, this is a challenge as its best selling brands include Oreo, Sour Patch Kids, and Chips Ahoy!
The Mondelez company has introduced a number of new snacks in its repertoire to gain the leadership in healthy snacking. The list of newly added products includes GOOD ThiNS and belVita biscuits. There is also the new range of Triscuits which have zero artificial ingredients. The list of eliminated compounds includes harmful ones like hydrogenated oils and the high fructose corn syrups.
New products introduced by the company are selling well, particularly the belVita biscuits. The latter's sales have risen by middle single digits during the recent quarter. The GOOD ThiNS crackers are now the best new American snacking brand. More innovations have been planned by the company during 2017's second half. The list includes Vea, the wholesome and savory biscuit brand. Revamping of existing products is also expected to happen.
Mondalez has made a corporate commitment that 50 percent of its products within 2020 will be categorized as healthy. The company is also concentrating on making products having reduced saturated fat and sodium. Usage of whole grains has also increased.
