To improve the customer experience of online shopping, Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) announced on Thursday that it has closed the deals to acquire two retail technology startups, BevyUp and MessageYes. Those two deals are expected to create a seamless shopping experience for Nordstrom’s customers in an innovative way.
BevyUp is a platform that enables sales associates to develop meaningful connections with customers, and encourages customers to share information with each other and browse items together online. The digital platform of BevyUp will be formed into a new mobile app for Nordstrom’s employees next year.
MessageYes is a platform which offers brands the opportunity to text their customers, leveraging artificial intelligence and integrated payments. "MessageYes marks a meaningful addition to our existing depth of talent and experience in engineering, data science and machine learning – all skills that are essential to our future growth." said Brian Gill, technology senior vice president at Nordstrom.
"The retail environment is changing faster than ever," said Brian Gill, "We need to invest in technologies that will enable us to deliver on those qualities and better serve customers in a digitally-connected world."
Nordstrom has been working actively these years on its e-commerce segment to develop its business model. It also acquired HauteLook, a members-only shopping website, in 2011.
