Barack Obama and Donald Trump had a 90 minute meeting at the white house as the two prepare for the transition of power from one to the other. The two discussed foreign and domestic policy.
“I have been very encouraged by the interest in President-elect Trump’s wanting to work with my team around many of the issues that this great country faces,” Obama said.
“I very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future, including counsel. He explained some of the difficulties, some of the high-flying assets, and some of the really great things that have been achieved,” Trump said of Obama. Obama had recognized Trump’s victory, and promised that he would work toward a smooth transition of power.
Obama stated, “It is no secret that the president-elect and I have some pretty significant differences. We are now all rooting for his success.” Trump had mentioned working with Obama’s team to deal with the many challenges America will face now and in the future.
