According to a report published by Staffing Industry Analysts, the AMN Healthcare Services Inc. ranks as the biggest staffing firm in the healthcare segment. This is valid in the terms of revenue from temporary healthcare staffing. The second position is held by CHG Healthcare. Cross Country Healthcare Inc. comes in the third position. The stated revenue of AMN is inclusive of revenues generated by Onward Healthcare, a company that the former took over in 2015's first quarter. The Cross Country results are inclusive of revenue generated from Mediscan. The latter was acquired by Cross Country in 2015s fourth quarter. A total of 36 staffing firms were present in the surveyed report. Each of those firms generated a minimum of $50 million in revenues from temporary staffing in healthcare. The combined revenues come to $8.2 billion. The said companies comprised 62 percent of total market share.
Timothy Landhuis, the Research Manager of Staffing Industry Analysts, said the 2016 report underlines the healthcare staffing boom which has recently occurred. He has estimated that about 20 companies in 2015 has generated about $100 million-if not more- in revenues from the temporary healthcare staffing segment. It is also noted that in the subsegment of travel nurse, a record nine companies has generated about $100 million in the travel nurse revenue segment.
The five biggest healthcare staffing firms present in United States along with their estimated staffing revenue in 2015 include AMN Healthcare Services with $1.4 billion and capturing 11 percent market share. CHG Healthcare Services clocks $1.1 billion with eight percent market share. In third position is Cross Country Healthcare with revenues of about $759 million and siz percent market share. Jackson Healthcare with $665 million takes five percent share of the market. The fifth position is taken by Maxim Healthcare Services with revenues of about $339 million and three percent share of the market.
The report also offers four rankings comprising of the biggest firms present in every sub-segment of healthcare: travel nurse, allied healthcare, per diem nurse and locum tenens. When it comes to the sub-segments, the AMN Healthcare gets ranked as the biggest staffing firm of allied healthcare with about six percent market share. When it comes to locum tenens, the biggest is CHG Healthcare Services. It enjoys 29 percent share of the market in revenues generated from locum tenens services.
