For many years in the corridors of power in Washington DC, the mantra of keeping it simple has been ignored. This is understandable. The elites love complexities involving nuance and caveats. Above all, they want to preserve status quo. Politicians come with big businesses backing them to the hilt. Special interests and lobbyists influence their actions.
Politics of corruption
Over the course of time, the career politicians will tend to favor one group over another. Exceptions are made to profit those who support. These exceptions eventually lead to a process which can only be described as a complicated and bloated one.
The United States of America deserves better. It needs a simpler tax code system. The US Government has no compunction about snatching money, and hard-earned dollars at that, from American families. In the process, it conveniently forgets that there is a requirement to respect American citizens' time. This can only be achieved by making the tax filing process simple and fair. A simple tax filing system is vital as the US citizens are known for their entrepreneurial nature. They are also extremely industrious. It follows that Americans require a tax code which will assist their businesses to attain top growth. The code must also be flexible enough to provide entrepreneurs' families with necessities. The tax structure must also enthuse them to give back to their communities sans spending multiple hours and copious amounts of money to simply comply with the complex system.
The tax filing time every year is a terrifying period when old receipts are pulled out and misplaced documents tracked down. It is also the time to submit to the IRS personal information. The present tax code is so complex that Americans not only find it irritating but also stressful and time-consuming. The US citizens spend a massive nine billion hours every year to comply with tax codes. The cost is also a mind boggling $400 billion in terms of lost economic productivity. The sad part is that even with such spending of money and time, taxes do not get filed in their proper manner.
A simplified tax code would not only save the time of Americans but also their hard earned money. It was reported by the IRS that a professional tax preparer takes about $261 to make a report. The simplified tax regime would save this amount of money.
