Samsung revealed its smart speaker Galaxy Home, powered by its own digital assistant Bixby. It also announced partnership with Spotify Technology S.A. (NYSE: SPOT).
The Galaxy Home is a smart speaker that allow you to ask questions, play music and control your smart home facilities. It is powered by The Bixby smart assistant, which is now used in Smartphone.
There are a subwoofer and eight microphones built-in, which will allow it to hear your commands from long distances within your home or office.
It is also built in Samsung's SmartThings hub. It allows you to control your lights, thermostat and other smart gadgets that are supported the SmartThings platform.
It may be a little late for Samsung to enter the smart speaker industry as there are similar products exit in the market. The Galaxy Home’s competitors include Amazon’s Echo, Apple’s HomePod and Alphabet’s Google Home. These three products accounts most of the market shares.
To attract more users, Samsung announced a new partnership with Spotify, which will be the default music streaming service on the Galaxy Home. The deal allows users to paly Spotify music in various Samsung preforms, including TV, smartphone and Galaxy Home.
Spotify shares surged 5.5% to USD 188.78 per share because of the news.
It is still unclear what price and when the Galaxy Home will be released.
