Snapchat announced a pair of connected sunglasses called Snapchat Spectacles. They record video snippets that save automatically to your Snapchat Memories. The sunglasses boast a camera with a 115 degree lenses.
For a limited time you can purchase Snap’s Spectacles next to the Apple Store on fifth avenue. Snapchat’s pop-up store opened on Monday where lines began circling around the block as early as 4 a.m. “The future is here (whether you like it or not),” wrote a social media consultant after purchasing a pair of their recording-enabled sunglasses. The spectacles cost $129.99 in one size and come in three colors: teal, black, and coral.
Snapchat announced that they are only making a “limited” amount of Snapchat Spectacles. Snapchat introduced Snapbots, yellow vending machines that will be in one location for about a day. These Snapbots will sell the spectacles. The Snapbots have a built-in camera to let you virtually try on the sunglasses before purchasing.
