Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) will launch a limited edition iced drink named ‘Unicorn Frappuccino’ in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
According to the company, the Unicorn Frappuccino is made with a mango syrup crème, blended with sugary pink power and layered with a sour blue drizzle. The color will change from purple to pink when mixed, and the flavor will go from sweet to tart.
“Like its mythical namesake, the Unicorn Frappuccino blended crème comes with a bit of magic, starting as a purple beverage with swirls of blue and a first taste that is sweet and fruity,” the company said in a statement. “But give it a stir and its color changes to pink, and the flavor evolves to tangy and tart. The more swirl, the more the beverage’s color and flavors transform.”
Starbucks began to sell the drink on Wednesday, and will last five days until 23 April. According to the spokesperson of Starbucks, the Unicorn Frappuccino is caffeine free. A tall drink with whole milk and topped with cream contains 280 calories, 11 grams of fat and 39 grams of sugar.
“The elusive unicorn from medieval legend has been making a comeback,” Starbucks said. “... Now Starbucks is taking the trend to a new level.”
Last December, the company launched limited-edition Pokemon Go Frappuccinos and launched vampire-themed Frappula Frappuccino during Halloween.
