The Idaho Small Business Development Center (www.idahosbdc.org), announced today that Doug Covey, former Regional Director of the Idaho SBDC, has been selected as the State Director for the organization. Doug will replace Katie Sewell, who announced her retirement after 20 years with the Idaho SBDC.
Prior to joining the SBDC, Covey spent twelve years as Executive Director, then CEO of BluePrint Education, a company that focused on providing curriculum and education programs to non-traditional students worldwide. He then served as VP, Partner Education for LiveRes, a SaaS based vacation rental management company.
More recently, Covey held the position of Southwest Regional Director for the Idaho SBDC. Under his leadership, the region re-branded and re-launched two business accelerators, one in downtown Boise, and one in Nampa. He also increased the degree of economic impact created by businesses in the region through capital raised, jobs created, and sales growth.
As State Director, Doug will focus on expanding the economic impact created through the state-wide SBDC network of consultants giving no-cost, professional, and confidential business coaching to Idaho business owners. Covey will continue to strengthen brand awareness so that the Idaho SBDC is the first resource businesses and entrepreneurs connect with when interested in growing their organizations.
“Business owners and entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of many communities throughout the state of Idaho. I am humbled to be given the opportunity to drive the mission of the SBDC, and eager to continue the important work of helping Idaho businesses start, focus, and grow. It’s an exciting time for the organization,” concluded Covey.
