The automaker, Toyota announced that it will invest $1.3 billion to revamp its Georgetown, Kentucky, factory when the Camry sedans are built. Although no new jobs will be added, the investment will sustain 8,200 current jobs at its largest plant, where all of its vehicles produced in North America are made.
This will be Toyota’s largest single investment at an existing plant within the U.S. The investment is due to Toyota’s preparation for production of their revamped 2018 Camry that will feature a new exterior design with an upgraded interior and new engine. The Kentucky plant currently assembles Lexus ES 350 and Avalon.
