This Wednesday morning, trading was halted at the New York Stock Exchange. “NYSE/NYSE MKT has temporarily suspended trading in all symbols. All open orders will be cancelled. Additional information will follow as soon as possible”, listed on their website at 11:51 AM.
NYSE updates their followers at 12:10 PM tweeting, “We’re experiencing a technical issue that we’re working to resolve as quickly as possible”. We’re doing our utmost to produce a swift resolution & will be providing further updates as soon as we can.”
NYSE further tweeted, “The issue we are experiencing is an internal technical issue and is not the result of a cyber breach. We chose to suspend trading on NYSE to avoid problems arising from our technical issue. NYSE-listed securities continue to trade unaffected on other market centers.
This isn’t the first issue that NYSE had encountered today. The status history on the NYSE website shows that the NYSE market had technical issues this morning at 10:37 AM, stating issues with connectivity for 3 BCCG gateways, two of which are now restored, and one will remain offline for the remainder of the day.
NYSE Arca and NYSE Amex/Arca Options are unaffected by this issue and continue normal operations at this time.
