Donald Trump Jr. finally admitted what was hearsay for a long time; that the Trump presidential campaign had links with Russia at the time of 2016 presidential election. The then would-be president's son had met Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer with strong Kremlin links.
According to Trump Jr., he met Veselnitskaya as he harbored the belief that the lawyer would offer him information which could damage the electoral prospects of Democratic candidate Hillary Trump. He also brought along the then Trump's campaign manager, Paul Manafort, to the meeting. They were accompanied by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Trump and also the latter's top adviser. Trump Jr. later said that he was disappointed after the meeting as the Russian legal person could not help him for the campaign.
When questioned further, President Donald Trump's son replied that the meeting was set by a person who he knew from the time of Miss Universe pageant set up in 2013. According to informed sources, the person was Rob Goldstone, the music publicist. The latter, when questioned, said that the meeting was arranged when one of his Russian clients requested a meeting with the then presidential candidate. The music publicist declined to provide the name of his client. Goldstone manages Emin Agalarov, a Russian pop singer. It is not the singer, but his father, Aras Agalarov, the billionaire developer, who is important in this context.
Elections and Agalarovs
Aras Agalarov sponsored the Miss Universe pageant in 2013. Both the Agalarovs were not shy in publicizing their relationships with both the President and his son. In fact, one of Emin's music videos had Donald Trump in its reels. Emin, when questioned by media, told Forbes that he maintained contacts with the Trump family after the elections. He told the media that he had talked with Donald Trump Jr. as recently as January. The President of the United States of America had sent a note to Agalarovs during November. The note was a handwritten one.
Emin said that senior Trump and his father, Aras, had planned to construct a Russian Trump tower. This plan was subsequently shelved after Trump decided to run for the US presidency. The young man told reporters that Trump, even after his presidentship, did not forget them. A video from the president was sent to Emin to the latter's 35th birthday, congratulating him.
