According to people that is familiar with the matter, the company is planning to replace Matthias Mueller, the Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen AG. Herbert Diess, which is a former executive BMW executive, may succeed Mr. Mueller. Mr. Diess has been running the Volkswagen brand since 2015.
In the statement on Tuesday, the company mentioned that Matthias Mueller has “showed his general willingness to contribute to the changes.” According to the company, final decision is expected to be made by the end of the week.
