Aeva Technologies (NYSE: AEVA) has announced its 4D LiDAR now offers over 500m detection range with software improvements on existing hardware. This will allow instant detection and identification of pedestrians over 350m and dark objects, including vehicles beyond 500m of range. Aeva 4D LiDAR’s long range performance also identifies the ground drivable regions beyond 200m.
This detection range is only possible by leveraging Aeva’s unique frequency modulated continuous wave 4D LiDAR architecture that has high sensitivity levels to detect a single photon, without being sensitive to sunlight or other interference. Aeva’s technology measures an object at long distances that enable instant identification of dynamic objects with reflections below 10% at long distances.
