Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) Echo speaker is growing in popularity. Amazon announced today that Alexa, Amazon’s personal assistant, so to speak, has learned more than a 100 skills by now. You can ask Alexa to order a pizza, or call an Uber.
Amazon has also introduced Alexa to other devices besides the Echo speaker, like the Fire TV, and some devices made by third party manufacturers. There are more than 130 apps in the Alexa’s skill section.
Artificial Intelligence has become the focus of innovation of several tech giants. In a conference, CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, explained that Alexa and Echo has been a project that was developed over the curse of four years, and still continues to evolve, with more than 1,000 employees on the team. Jeff Bezos said the advantage Amazon has in artificial intelligence development is that Alexa knows a lot about the company’s clients, their habits and tastes.
Companies like Domino’s (NYSE: DPZ), Fitbit (NYSE:FIT) and kayak are working with Amazon to allow customers who use the Alexa Skills Kit to receive information regarding their food orders, health monitoring, and travel bookings by speaking commands to Alexa.
