Amazon will hire 5,000 remote workers in 2017, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced that it will add 5,000 remote customer service jobs as a component of its additional 25,000 jobs at its fulfillment centers.  These jobs will pay $10 per hour but employees that work over 20 hours a week may be eligible for education reimbursements.  

Amazon is playing at the new labor market trend where more Americans are working remotely, especially for top companies such as Allergan, Xerox and IBM that are also hiring remote positions such as software engineering, human resources, financial and customer service industries. 

A report by FlexJobs for January job listings have analyzed 100,000 job listings that have listings for remote workers in fields such as education & training, pharmaceuticals, accounting & finance, HR & recruiting, mortgage and real estate.
