Apple confirms Sept. 12 for product launch

Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) confirmed on Thursday its plan to hold its annual product launch event on Sept. 12th at its new Cupertino headquarters at the Steve Jobs Theater. The company is currently sending out invites to the showcase event on its new campus, which would mark the first event on at that location.

The tech company is expected to showcase its new iPhone model and two previous models of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to showcase updates and changes to the models.

The new iPhone model or the iPhone 8 is expected to showcase features such as 3D imaging facial recognition, wireless charging, and a new OLED display instead of the current LCD displays that iPhones have.

Apple is projected to ship 25 million units of the pricier iPhone in the quarter that ends next month, according to Susquehanna International Group. Sales for the iPhones won’t begin until Sept. 22nd. The price of the new iPhone hasn’t been set yet, but there’s been rumors of the model being priced at roughly $1,100.

Apple is also expected to reveal its new Apple Watch that has an LTE chip to access features such as emailing, texting, and calling without having to be connected to an iPhone. Along with the watch, the company may showcase its 4K Apple TV.
