Apple refuses to bid on Time Warner

Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not interested in purchasing Time Warner currently. At the moment there is no Time Warner bid coming from Apple, things could change within the next few months. AT&T announced its plan to acquire Time Warner for over $85 billion, many are against the deal. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that Apple had approached Time Warner about a deal a few months ago, but discussions were only in infant stages and didn’t progress.

The AT&T and Time Warner deal would allow Batman, Superman, CNN, and Harry Potter a direct distribution platform to AT&T’s wireless customers. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump are against the deal where they state that the company would have too much power over media.

“Combining with AR&T is the natural next step in the evolution of our business and allows us to significantly accelerate our most important strategies,” Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes stated.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and executive Eddy Cue have expressed interest in Time Warner’s cable channels in a future Apple video streaming service, said the Financial Times. In the earnings report last week, Cook stated that owning and creating contest was a great opportunity for Apple. “I would confirm that television has intense interest with me and many other people here,” Cook told investors on a conference call.
