Cancer Patients Enjoy Relaxing Respite Vacations Across America

CHICAGO, Aug. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — For the last two years, Encore RV Resorts and Thousand Trails Campgrounds have partnered with For Pete’s Sake (FPS), hosting their twelfth family in June. The successful partnership began when FPS sought a travel partner in the spring of 2016 and the organizations now have patient respites planned for a third year. Patients and their families receive VIP treatment courtesy of FPS and the RV resort of their choice. Recent respite stays have been hosted by Encore and Thousand Trails at Circle M, Fiesta Key, Chesapeake Bay, Sea Pines, Hershey, and Tropical Palms.

After spending their respite at Thousand Trails’ Circle M RV Campground, Brian and Karen send a thank you note to For Pete's Sake

“We admire what For Pete’s Sake does for these families,” said Pat Zamora, Vice President for Encore and Thousand Trails. “We are proud to provide them a few days to enjoy our resorts and campgrounds to relax and get away.”

Encore and Thousand Trails provides outdoor recreation enthusiasts opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in top vacation destinations around the country. Guests can choose from a range of accommodations, including RV sites, yurts, cabins, cottages and even tiny houses.

Since 1999, For Pete’s Sake has enabled cancer patients and their loved ones the opportunity to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable respite vacations. Patients are nominated for the respite by a member of his/her oncology team, and more than 7,500 patients have been helped by FPS to date. Marci Bossow Schankweiler founded For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation in memory of her husband, Peter R. Bossow, Jr., whose 15-month battle with cancer ended on September 1, 1999. The organization is funded entirely by charitable donations.  For more information on FPS, visit
