MONTREAL, June 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Saint Jean Baptiste Day is nearly here and the celebrations will be plentiful. As everyone plans their holiday weekend, MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are urging Quebecers to also think about how they’re getting home safely.
“Enjoy your celebrations this weekend, but please be responsible. Plan ahead for a sober ride home. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is just never worth the risk,” said MADD Canada National President Patricia Hynes-Coates.”
Every year, hundreds of people are killed and tens of thousands are injured in crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs.
MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking everyone to celebrate responsibly and leave the car at home if they’re going to be drinking. Call an Uber or a taxi, take public transit, or arrange for a designated driver.
“The tragic deaths and injuries caused by impaired driving are completely preventable. Please leave the driving to someone sober. If everyone does their part, we can have a holiday long weekend free from the devastation of impaired driving,” said Allstate Insurance Company of Canada President and CEO Ryan Michel.
Revelers looking for a safe, sober and reliable ride home at the push of a button can check out Uber, MADD Canada’s Official Designated Driving App. Visit https://www.uber.com/partner/en-ca/madd-canada/ for more information.
