Compton Kidz Club, a life changing, transformational youth organization, and Edmentum, a global education leader and a pioneer in online teaching and learning solutions, are launching Compton Performing Arts Academy (CPAA), the country’s first African American-owned online private school. The fully accredited online school, a subsidiary of the Compton Kidz Club, will offer a world class curriculum and open on September 9, 2020 for grades 9-12.
The academy will provide a state-of-the-art high school experience integrating academics, technology and performing arts education.
“Education is the great equalizer. Technology can and should play a role in helping expand access to high quality education where students can feel safe,” said Edmentum CEO Jamie Candee. “It’s our job collectively, as a community, to create the access for our children. We are honored to partner with CPAA to help accomplish that goal, a foundation of Edmentum’s mission for decades.”
The collaboration between Edmentum and Compton Kidz Club embodies a long-held vision of Compton Kidz Club founder and Compton native Fred Martin. The online school will focus on the academic development and performing arts skills of students needing a different educational experience. It will prioritize a bully-free environment inclusive of a safe and supportive learning environment and focus on college and career pathways.
“We are excited to give education to a world without borders. Our children deserve a balanced education, that prepares them for 21st century jobs. The partnership of CPAA, Edmentum and Cisco System will deliver the most diverse and interactive educational experience, where we see life through the eye of our kids and their future has no color limits”
