Concordia
Care, Inc. (Concordia), a specialty risk-transfer and care
coordination company, announces its distinction as the first and only
managed behavioral health organization (MBHO) serving the group health
and workers’ compensation industries to earn dual consecutive
accreditations from the National
Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and Accreditation
Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
“Accreditation from the nation’s most credible and trusted organizations
is further acknowledgement of the high quality, more responsive and
compassionate behavioral healthcare experience we provide to the people
we serve nationwide,” says Joseph Berardo Jr., CEO, Concordia. “It’s
also testimony to our team of experienced clinicians and professionals
who are effectively agents of change, combining behavioral healthcare
with clinical resources to improve outcomes and move patients toward
full recovery. Our biopsychosocial approach to the members and injured
workers we serve, focuses on the whole patient and their individual
needs; not just their diagnosis in a vacuum. Everyday our talented team
strives to inform, educate, support, guide and lend valuable clinical
expertise where and when it is needed most.”
NCQA’s MBHO accreditation demonstrates to insurers, health plans,
employers, regulators and consumers that an organization follows
evidence-based practices for providing high-quality care, access and
consumer protections. MBHO accreditation emphasizes care coordination to
reduce fragmented care — especially for people with special needs,
complex case management, and data exchange between insurers, health
plans and behavioral healthcare organizations.
AAAHC is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to assist
ambulatory healthcare organizations in improving the quality of care
provided to patients. Accreditation is an external, independent review
of a healthcare delivery organization against nationally accepted
standards and its own policies, procedures, processes and outcomes. The
organization also commits to a thorough, on-site survey by AAAHC
surveyors at least every three years.
Berardo adds, “As a recognized industry leader, Concordia provides a
unique approach to risk transfer solutions and care coordination related
to behavioral health patients and those with workplace injuries. Our
team goes the extra mile to ensure that payers — spanning insurers,
government entities, self-insured plan sponsors and other managed care
organizations – have a reliable and credible resource that delivers
safe, high quality and compassionate services to their insureds.”
