Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), Amazon Web Services, Inc. has reported that DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) has chosen AWS as preferred cloud provider and will construct its 5G network on AWS as part of a strategic collaboration agreement where both companies will transform how organizations and customers, including AWS and Amazon will order and consumer 5G services or create their own private 5G networks.
DISH will deploy its first cloud based 5G Open Radio Access Network within the United States, starting with Las Vegas later in 2021. DISH plans to connect al of its hardware and network management resources through the cloud to enable secure, innovation and rapid scaling, including on-demand responsiveness to customers’ wireless needs. “Through this collaboration with AWS, we will operate not just as a communications services provider, but as a digital services provider harnessing the combined power of 5G connectivity and the cloud. Together, we will enable our customers to take full advantage of the potential of 5G.
