Instacart announced Thursday that it will start making same-day deliveries for Dollar Tree (NASDAQ: DLTR), an American discount variety store. The company is set to deliver goods to customers from the Dollar Tree’s 6,000 plus locations, in as little as an hour.
“Whether stocking up the fridge or pantry, enhancing a home office or virtual school space, or buying everyday at-home essentials, we know value and affordability are top of mind for people across the country,” said Chris Rogers, vice president of retail at Instacart, in a press release.
Instacart services many big name retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Rite Aid, and has helped them fulfill online orders throughout the pandemic.
Despite the ongoing health crisis, Dollar Tree has managed to increase its customer base and push expansion plans as customers seek out value prices. The company carries an assortment of items from food to paper goods, which have experienced an increase in demand as people spend more time indoors.
“With this new partnership, customers now have access to same-day delivery of Family Dollar’s broad and affordable selection of household goods, pantry and baby essentials, electronics, office and school supplies, personal care items, and more in as fast as an hour,” Instacart said in a Thursday press release.
Instacart ran a pilot program in late 2020, delivering for 275 Family Dollar stores.
“Providing same-day delivery is another example of our efforts to better meet the evolving needs of our Family Dollar shoppers,” Family Dollar CEO Mike Witynski said in the press release. “We are encouraged by the initial results of our pilot stores and are pleased to expand the Instacart platform to more than 6,000 Family Dollar stores across the country.”
