GM to Launch BrightDrop

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) has reported a new business to offer an ecosystem of electric products, services and software to empower logistics and delivery companies to move goods more efficiently.  BrightDrop is designed to help businesses maximize productivity, lower business costs, support sustainability efforts and improve employee safety and freight security.  “BrightDrop offers a smarter way to deliver goods and services,” said Mary Barra GM Chairman and CEO. “We are building on our significant expertise in electrification, mobility applications, telematics and fleet management, with a new one-stop-shop solution for commercial customers to move goods in a better, more sustainable way.”

GM anticipates that by 2025 the market for parcel, food delivery and reverse logistics in the United States will reach over USD 850 Billion as the World Economic Forum predicts that the demand for urban last mile delivery via ecommerce will grow by 78% by 2030, which will entail a 36% increase in delivery vehicles within the world’s top 100 cities.  BrightDrop is in process of developing
