Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) assigns preliminary ratings to six classes of mortgage pass-through certificates from New Residential Mortgage Loan Trust 2021-NQM2R (NRMLT 2021-NQM2R), a $270.7 million non-prime RMBS transaction. The $270.7 million transaction is collateralized by a pool of 729 mortgages, of which 48.8% were originally securitized in NRMLT 2019-NQM2 and 45.5% were included in prior securitizations by other issuers which have been called. KBRA would generally categorize most of the collateral as non-prime, with certain loan and borrower characteristics (e.g., underwriting criteria, non-traditional income documentation) that generally preclude the extension of credit to borrowers by government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) or traditional mortgage programs.
KBRA’s rating approach incorporated loan-level analysis of the mortgage pool through its RMBS Credit Model, an examination of the results from third-party loan file due diligence performed at the time of origination of the loans, cash flow modeling analysis of the transaction’s payment structure, reviews of key transaction parties and an assessment of the transaction’s legal structure and documentation. This analysis is further described in our U.S. RMBS Rating Methodology.
