New York Times Becomes a Victim of Hackers

There was an attempt to hack The New York Times Co (NYSE: NYT), probably by Russian hackers. It is presumed that the hacker have been targeting reports and major news outlets including The New York Times. The media company didn’t come up with evidence that would indicate a successful hack.

Eileen Murphy, a spokeswoman for the news agency said in a statement, “We are constantly monitoring our systems with the latest available intelligence and tools… We have seen no evidence that any of our internal systems, including our systems in the Moscow bureau, have been breached or compromised.”

After the hacking of the Democratic Party, by Russians or not, it appears that hackers are trying harder to hack the systems of news organizations and individual reports. The reason is probably related to the governmental contacts or some presumed secret communications between journalists and public officials.
