Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA) announced its new TITAN V, which it say it is “world’s most powerful GPU for the PC.”
Nvidia’s TITAN V has 21.1 billion transistors deliver 110 teraflops of raw horsepower, 9x that of its predecessor, and extreme energy efficiency. The GPU is driven by the NVIDIA Volta.
“Our vision for Volta was to push the outer limits of high performance computing and AI. We broke new ground with its new processor architecture, instructions, numerical formats, memory architecture and processor links,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia. “With TITAN V, we are putting Volta into the hands of researchers and scientists all over the world. I can’t wait to see their breakthrough discoveries.”
The TITAN V architecture features a major redesign of the regular streaming multiprocessor that is at the center of the GPU. It doubles the energy efficiency of the previous generation Pascal design, which enables significant boosts in performance for the same amount of power.
The GPU contains new Tensor Cores, specifically for deep learning deliver up to 9x higher peak teraflops. The TITAN V is fabricated on a new TSMC 12-natometer FFN high-performance manufacturing process for Nvidia.
Nvidia says the TITAN V’s power is an ideal processor for developers who are in the artificial intelligence, deep learning, and high performance computing. Users can access the GPU-optimized AI HPC software by signing up for a Nvidia GPU Cloud account.
The TITAN V is available now for $2,999 in certain countries.
