NYC Café claims Starbucks stole “Unicorn Latte”

According to CNBC, a café in Brooklyn created a “Unicorn Latte” and is denouncing Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) for “overshadowing” their health conscious drink with a sugary concoction called Unicorn Frappuccino in a lawsuit.  The End café began selling its Unicorn Latte in December 2016 and has a trademark on the drink name pending since January this year.

The Unicorn Frappuccino was launched in April by Starbucks as a limited time item that had considerable spotlight within the media and consumers alike.

Both of the Unicorn drinks do not contain coffee and are exceptionally sweet.  Although The End claims that their Unicorn Latte is made from ingredients such as ginger root, dates and algae, where the lawsuit claims that the Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino is made from milk and artificial sweeteners.

The café is seeking an unspecified amount compensated to them as well as a public apology.
