OneMain Financial Awards $25,000 Grant to Downtown Painesville Organization for the Beautification Project of the Historic Gage House

OneMain Financial announced today that it will host its second “Made on
Main Street” event on Sunday, July 22, 2018, to celebrate the $25,000
grant awarded to the Downtown Painesville Organization. “Made on Main
Street,” a partnership between OneMain Financial and Main Street
America, provides community action grants for innovative community
transformation projects across the country. The dollars awarded through
this philanthropic initiative will be used to beautify the grounds
surrounding the historic Gage House. Six additional grants have been
awarded to organizations across the country.

“We were truly moved by the community coming together to save this
historical landmark and thrilled to award this grant to an organization
who shares our vision that individuals thrive when their communities
thrive,” said OneMain Financial Chief Marketing Officer Kim Wijkstrom.
“At OneMain Financial we’re committed to serving the neighborhoods where
our customers and employees live and work, and we hope this event will
be a great time for everyone.”

The Gage House was set to be demolished after it was purchased by the
Rite Aid drugstore chain, but a group of residents and business owners
rallied together to purchase and relocate the iconic property. The grant
will go toward creating a more welcoming community environment
surrounding the building, including beautiful gardens and an open
seating area for public use.

“The ‘Made on Main Street’ grant will transform and beautify a historic
building which was saved from destruction by the community,” said David
Polakowski, executive director of the Downtown Painesville Organization.
“The gardens that will be created will enhance the beauty of the
building and will be available for everyone to enjoy.”

OneMain Financial will be hosting a free, family-friendly block party to
celebrate the award of the grant and the upcoming transformation
project. The July 22 event will be held on Main Street between South St.
Clair Street and South State Street from 1 to 5 pm. During the event,
guests will have the opportunity to explore the Gage House through a
guided tour featuring exciting details about the upcoming transformation
project. Festivities will also include live music, complimentary food,
games, crafts, artisan vendors and much more. “Made on Main Street” is
free, and all community members are invited to attend. Complimentary
parking is available around the Lake County Job and Services Parking
Lot. For more information, please visit:
