Senators Demand to Hear Khashoggi Briefing

A bipartisan group of senators, in key national security committees, had been briefed on the Khashoggi investigation by Director of the CIA Gina Haspel. The briefing was given to only a select few senators yet the legislators left in the unknown want to know why. What has been said, by the Congressmen who have spoken out about the briefing, is that Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is most definitely involved in the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham had given a scathing press conference after the CIA briefing. Graham had stated that there is no doubt in his mind that the killing of Khashoggi could not have occurred without the Crown Prince having any knowledge of it. “We’ll do more damage to our standing in the world and our national security by ignoring MBS [Mohammed Bin Salman] than dealing with him” stated the Senator during a press conference. “The Crown Prince is a wrecking ball. I think he’s complicit in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi to the highest level possible” added Graham.

Tennessee Senator, Bob Corker, had concluded that a jury would find the Crown Prince to guilty “within thirty minutes”. These senators have absolute confidence that Salman had planned this operation. While these legislators have stated that they agree with the CIA’s findings, Secretary Pompeo and Secretary Mattis are still avoiding the direct question of whether or not they believe Salman was involved.

The outrage is not limited to those who attended the conference. Kentucky Senator, Rand Paul had attacked the exclusion of him and other Senators from the briefing to be an act of the “Deep State” and that all other Senators, as representatives of the American people, deserve to hear what the CIA has concluded. The desire to expand the briefing is bipartisan. Senator Chuck Schumer had tweeted Tuesday “While I will not discuss the content of the Haspel briefing, it reinforced the need for a strong response to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. CIA Director Haspel should brief the full Senate without delay”.

This year 78 journalists have been killed. Of those 31, like Jamal Khashoggi, murdered. Another 326 imprisoned. Journalism is under threat as never before. For our freedoms, democracies and human rights we must stand with those who speak truth to power.

Khalid bin Salman is the one who brought Khashoggi to Istanbul, he must be held accountable severely, because he is a partner in the killing of Khashoggi

    -excusing murder and dismemberment #Khashoggi
-changing the Military Lending Act to remove protections
    -undercutting the VA
-selling out to coal and oil
