Recently, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS), one of the leading U.S. wireless providers, has been very generous to its customers. It’s offering a share of the company’s stock for free to its monthly subscribers and it’s also implementing a referral system that gives customer a share for every friend/new user that signs up.
Not only is T-Mobile offering a share of its stock to its customers, it also launched a gift app, T-Mobile Tuesdays, that gives its subscribers weekly perks; these perks can be redeemed every Tuesday. The company has partnered up with many firms such Domino’s Pizza Inc. and Lyft to provide these benefits, which include free food and free rides, to its subscribers.
T-Mobile has been constantly competing against other firms such as Verizon Communications Inc., AT&T Inc. and Sprint Inc. T-Mobile believes that these new benefits will allow it to gain an edge over its competitors. In the past, T-Mobile has dished out many customer-friendly offers such as data rollover plans but they have never done something so big. “This has never been done before by a public company,” said Chief Executive, John Legere, on a media call.
T-Mobile is sure that this will attract a lot of new customers while also ensuring that its current subscribers will stick with the carrier. “Some (free offers) will cost us some money but over time we think it will be a really good investment” said Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Sherrard.
