Tesla’s Model S in Full Throttle Production

The advent of electric motor vehicles revolutionized the automobile industry. In a time where fuel efficiency is constantly on the mind of the consumer, it’s tough to find a vehicle that can give you both power and good fuel economy. The Tesla Model S brought to the table a new type of vehicle; one that has great mileage and has the performance of a sports car that can compete with cars such as the BMW 5-series.

Elon Musk, Co-founder and CEO of Tesla bought the 5 million square foot factory from Toyota. Rather than build the factory from scratch, they renovated and spent a year designing and setting up systems to prepare for the production of the most advanced car on the planet. The new state of the art factory has over 160 robots that can complete various tasks like cutting, welding, shaping and assembling.

Just How Impressive is the Tesla Model S?

The performance model of the Tesla Model S is equipped with an 85 kW-h battery that can drive 245 miles per charge. Don’t be fooled by its eco-friendly skeleton. The Tesla Model S can reach an instant torque of 295 lbs-ft of torque and can produce up to 300 horsepower. This car can do 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. It is the Super Car, redefined.

What Does the Future Hold?

Since the Tesla Model S hit the high tech production line in the company’s new 5 million square foot factory in California, the car has won numerous awards and recognition such as the 2013 World Green Car of the Year, 2013 Motor Trend Vehicle of the Year, Automobile Magazine‘s 2013 Car of the Year, Time Magazine Best 25 Inventions of the Year 2012 award, and Consumer Reports‘ top-scoring car ever. All these accomplishments were achieved in less than two years of production. Look out for Tesla, as it seems like they have no intention of slowing down.
