Tesla to Release New Faster Longer Range Versions of Mode S and Model X

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has announced that two of the company’s current models, the Model S and Model X, will be available in a new longer range 100D version. The announcement was met with excitement, as shares of the company jumped about 2% after the news were published.

The longer range 100D version of the cars is impressive in terms of speed and durability. The Model S P100D, includes the 100 kWh battery increases range capabilities to an estimated 315 miles on the EPA cycle and 613 km in the EU cycle. This is the longest range production electric vehicle by far.

The Model X with the larger battery pack, made the world’s quickest SUV even faster according to Tesla. According to the company, “Model X P100D with Ludicrous mode accelerates to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and travels up to 289 miles EPA estimated and 542 km EU on a single charge. Model X is also a pure electric SUV and can seat up to seven adults.”

The innovative company indicated that the Model S P100D with the Ludicrous mode is the “third fastest accelerating production car ever produced” and the other two, the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder were only in production for a limited run, cost a million dollars and are no longer available to purchase.
