Urology Times®, the leading multimedia platform for urologists and allied health professionals, is pleased to welcome Michael S. Cookson, M.D., and Gopal Badlani, M.D., to the publication as co-editors in chief.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Dr. Cookson and Dr. Badlani to the Urology Times® team as co-editors in chief,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™, parent company of Urology Times®. “With their vast experience in the medical field coupled with their expert knowledge of the urology specialty, we are eager to see what each of these accredited medical professionals brings to the publication.”
Cookson is a professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), where he is also chairman of the Department of Urology and holds the Donald D. Albers Endowed Chair in Urology. In addition to his role at OUHSC, Cookson is chief of urologic oncology at Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is president of the Society of Urologic Oncology and the South-Central Section of the American Urological Association. As an accomplished teacher, researcher, and author, Cookson has been recognized internationally for his outstanding contributions to the field.
Badlani is a professor and vice chairman of the Department of Urology & Gynecology at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina that specializes in voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapses in women, male incontinence from prostate surgery, and neurourological disease. Badlani also is chief of urology and codirector of the female pelvic health unit at a VA hospital located in Salisbury, North Carolina. As secretary-treasurer of the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons and secretary of the Urology Care Foundation, Badlani’s footprint in the specialty goes far beyond clinical aspects of the practice. With a strong interest in volunteer work in underdeveloped countries, Badlani was a board member of International Volunteers in Urology and awarded the Dr. B.C. Roy medal by the president of India in 2016.
“While Dr. Badlani has served as an editorial consultant for many years for Urology Times®, bringing a wealth of knowledge on urologic conditions like kidney stones and other benign conditions, we are thrilled to have him serve as co-editor in chief to continue providing our audience with practice-changing ideas,” said Kristie Kahl, editorial director of Urology Times®. “Meanwhile, it is our pleasure to work with Dr. Cookson as he brings his background in genitourinary cancers to the forefront for our urology audience that focuses on the multidisciplinary approach to cancer care.”
As co-editors in chief, Cookson and Badlani will guide Urology Times® in development of top-tier content surrounding topics within the urological specialty. Backed by their guidance, the publication will delve deeper into genitourinary cancer care, benign prostatic hyperplasia, overactive bladder and incontinence, sexual dysfunction, and other rare urologic conditions.
