US State Department approved $295.6 million Military Equipment sale to Iraq

The U.S. State Department approved the sale of $295.6 million worth of military equipment to Iraq for Kurdish Peshmerga infantry units and artillery, an agency from the Pentagon said.  The equipment that was requested by the Iraqi government would supply two Peshmerga infantry battalions and two support artillery brigades, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement.

Although Congress was notified on Tuesday on the approved sale, this does not mean the sale has been concluded.
