Walser Automotive Group is changing gears to put more women in the
driver’s seat of the automotive industry. The Minnesota-based automotive
group has launched its first-ever women’s resource network called Women
of Walser (WOW).
Walser recognizes the disparity of women in the automotive industry with
women fulfilling just 19 percent of active employees on new-car
dealership payrolls nationwide, according to the 2018
NADA Dealership Workforce Study.
It is WOW’s mission to actively engage women at all levels of the
company through diversity accountability, mentorship, leadership, and
various networking events.
WOW is an opportunity for women at Walser to raise their hands and take
the lead on important initiatives while developing leadership skills
with exposure to other senior leaders. Walser is committed to developing
our strong workforce of women while meeting the strategic needs of the
company, including growing Walser’s female market share to better
represent the customers it serves.
“Diversity is important to us at Walser. Bringing your ‘whole self’
to work every day is who we are. It also makes great business sense as
we respond to the ever-changing needs of the customer,” said Sherry
Schultz, Walser’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “We know that
looking like the marketplaces we serve and creating a strong pipeline of
diverse leaders and will contribute to Walser’s ongoing success.”
percent of car sales influenced by women, and 62
percent of all new cars sold to women, Walser has made it a priority
to create parity between its current employees and prospective customers.
These initiatives are focused on changes that make Walser a great place
to work for its current female employees and to raise awareness of
Walser as a preferred employer for future employees. WOW is
highly-inclusive of all Walser employees and men are welcome to attend
any and all events.
