Warner Bros opened its’ first and the world’s largest indoor theme park on July 25th. The USD 1 Billion park is located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It boasts 1.65 Million sq. ft., 29 rides, six themed areas, 17 restaurants, 15 retail shops, family-friendly interactive areas and daily live entertainment shows. The park is split into six different themed areas, each with a unique story, including, Warner Bros Plaza, Metropolis, Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock and Dynamic Gulch. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, toured the park the day before it opened.
The park is expected to profit from Abu Dhabi’s growing tourism sector, which is up 6% just this summer from last year. “China, India and Russia have been our biggest markets and there is strong growth by all these countries,” said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, “We expect stronger growth to come from U.K., Germany and Saudi Arabia. Additions like the Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi will just compound that growth.” Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Mohammed Al Mubarak, said that this new park will be another attraction to draw in international tourists and increase their tourism sector, “Last year we grew more than 10% in terms of numbers. We see extremely strong markets in Abu Dhabi whether they’re from India, China, Russia, and some other European countries, we are continuing to see that growth."
The new Warner Bros park sold around 15,000 tickets before its opening. Tickets are priced at DH 295, or USD 80.31, for adults and DH 230, USD 62.62, for children, with free entry for those under the age of 3.
